When it comes to playing poker online, we all want to enjoy a piece of the action, but when you are playing with your own real cash, you do need to learn to become a bit more cautious. So many people who play poker online these days want to at least see the flop, in a bid to make the cards they are dealt work, but this is not the right way to go about things.
Every single time you call to see the flop, you are going to have to pay to see it, either matching the big blind or matching the bet or raise that has come before you, so you really do need to decide if it is really worth seeing the flop so often. The simple solution is, only see the flop if you have been dealt cards that are good enough to make it worthwhile.
Don't be afraid to fold pre-flop, in fact you should actually be folding more often than not, if you really want to have success at online poker. Even when you think you have a good hand, if some raises big pre-flop, then it is probably a good idea to let that hand go and fold, rather than being drawn into a hand which you will likely end up losing.
A good thing to keep in mind is the percentage of flops you are seeing, so keep an eye on your playing stats. Try to keep your flops seen at around the 12% to 20% mark, as anything higher than that and you are seeing too many flops and not folding enough. So be mindful of your play and learn the art of folding, it might just help you to win more at poker.
